Kitchen Window Update

Mike was just stunned to find out that

 he was right

about the window treatment in the kitchen. (if you missed it yesterday, click here to catch up)

He really thought for sure that he would get ganged up on about it (kind of like the blow mold Santa debate).

So the look on his face was priceless when I told him the vote was nearly unanimous. (Don’t worry Gail, he’s not holding it against you; he knows you and I share the same brain!)

I do believe you’ve totally changed his thinking about bloggers!  (he thinks it’s all about girls against the guys)

Meanwhile, I pulled the string taut for now to get the treatment straight, as that was the most common suggestion.

He likes it somewhat better.

On the weekend I’m going to rework it again.  I may choose to do something totally different.  After all, these only took a few minutes to do in the first place!

My mom thinks perhaps this treatment is better suited for a laundry room than a kitchen.

Good point.

It does remind me of a clothesline.  Which is probably why I liked it so much in the first place!

These may just end up down there.

Thanks, my friends, for your honesty and helpful ideas.

This is what I love about blogging.

It’s like having a lot of best friends who aren’t afraid to answer that age-old shopping question;

“do these jeans make my butt look big?”

with

yes

and then spending the next hour helping to find the perfect pair of good butt jeans.

That’s a sign of real friendship and caring.

I feel blessed!

  1. Oh I am so happy I wasn't the only one that didn't agree. It still isn't floating my boat...sorry sweetie... I agree with your Mom, much better suited for the laundry room... cute idea just wrong application.

What about a valance with the drop sheet material? I saw a really cute valance the other day and I can't remember where. It was flipped over and a rod pocket stitched. Or what about a valance to match the one you made like Pottery Barns. Instead of the curtain just do the valance.

Glad we all won Mike over... we really don't like to pick on the guys but sometimes they really don't get it... I think he was right on this one though.

    Have a great day Rose.

    Hugs, Deb

  3. I am glad you pulled it straight and I do like it better, but I think your Mom has a good idea, laundry room would be perfect. You have great ideas so you will find the perfect curtain for this area. Oh and I also am so glad when we tell each other the truth...its part of the wonderful friendship thing we have here!

  4. Isn't blog land wonderful! Our blog friends can tell us how it is, and make the husbands happy all at the same time!
I still like it this way, but I like it loose better. It looked more casual the other way. We really are two peas in a pod! (except YOUR love of HEAT)
However, to keep the hubs happy, maybe you should move it (notice I didn't say toss it). I think your mom has a great idea about it being great for your laundry room.
So, at least mike's not holding it against me.
I look forward to seeing what you do next with that soon to be naked window. ;)

  7. I really like it either way... I love that it's unique, you won't find it in anyone else's home. I wish I was as creative as you! Wherever you decide to put it, it will look great in my opinion!

  8. Man, I missed yesterday's post, and am just now catching up to all the hoop-la! And what great timing - I have been working on a set of window coverings for my kitchen window using drop cloths, and was very interested to see your pics. Hopefully I will finish mine sometime in 2011 (haha) and can get pics up on my blog. (I'm such an optimist, LMAO) Great posts, thank you!!!

  12. I love your Mom's comment on the laundry room. And it's not always girls against guys - most of the time - not all the time!
