Ok, NOW I’m ready to decorate

It’s been a white out around here this past week.  All this snow is putting me right into the Christmas spirit.

005-8

Good thing, as I haven’t even decorated a thing yet.  And shop?  Nah.  I’m a procrastinator to the nth degree.

Why even the dogs are still wearing their fall collars.  How embarrassing!

Last I posted was about my plastic curb-found yard decorations that Mike did NOT want me to use.  Well, I’m happy to say that thanks to you, my bloggy friends, I get to keep them!  Turns out they are actually vintage blow mold pieces.   Pam from House of Hawthornes was kind enough to send me some links to similar pieces sold on e-bay.

This set below sold on E-bay for $162, and it only had 1 reindeer!

See mine?  The antlers on one deer are missing entirely, but I have the original red plastic reins that go with these, and the lights!

Pam’s an expert on vintage Christmas decor, check out her blog if you haven’t been there yet.  She has many wonderful vintage Christmas decorations and displays them beautifully!

So this weekend when I get to work on them in daylight I’ll get them in position and take photos to show you.

Meanwhile, I’m pulling out some of my Thrifty Christmas decor to begin my inside decorating.

010-4

This white poinsettia is a thrift store find from last February.

004-6

It was 50% off day for white tag items.

007-3

So I got it for $3.50!

(it even came in a terra cotta pot)

012-5

This thing is HUGE!

004-6

Now I need to find a spot that it will fit in.

It’s way too large for the dining room table, or for that matter the whole dining room!

  3. I love Santa and the reindeer. If he really objects, have HIM make new antlers for the poor dear/deer.
Recently I also was looking at a site all about collectible blow mold decorations. Who knew!
(I was inspired after seeing old blowmold ghosts.)
Now that you know how valuable they are maybe you'll have to keep them safely up on the roof.

  4. I am happy that you get to keep them as you loved them. Who would have thought they would be worth so much. I agree with dogsmom you may have to put them on the roof for safe keeping.

LOVE that plant, I really like the white ones the best and you don't even have to water it... bonus.

Wow you did get clobbered with the white stuff didn't you? We have a dusting, just enough to make it feel like December. This weekend may be another story though.

Hope you are having a great week.

    Hugs, Deb

  7. Thank you so much for the nice comment! Love your white poinsettia. I can never keep those things alive until Christmas (looks like a twig in a pot by then), so that is definately the way to go.

  11. Love the BIG Poinsettia and what a price. I've looked for some for pots on the porch...not so lucky as you. The Vintage Santa and Reindeer are AMAZING....I have a TALL Santa on my porch from about the same era...I'll have to look him up on Ebay!
