One Weekend Project Done- Footboard House Sign

In typical Rose fashion I was pretty   way overly ambitious on Friday with my list for weekend projects to finish.

Totally forgot about Sunday being Mothers Day.  How did I manage to do that?

So, I didn’t finish everything, no surprises there, right?

But I did  finish this one!

I painted this curb-found footboard last fall with every intention of using it at my daughter’s bridal shower.  Slapped some chalkboard paint on it, thinking I would make it into a flower bed.  (The shower had a garden theme.)

I didn’t get it completed to my satisfaction in time.

So it sat in the garage.  All winter.

Pulled it out this spring.  By now daughter and SIL are so over the cutesy garden look.  Enough is enough!  So I tried to think of something else to do with it.

Then my son and DIL stopped by.  Aha!  An inspiration hit me!

I mentioned it to them.  Do YOU want it?  I can do ______  for you…..

DIL was very excited…”Oh yes, that would be great.” (be careful what you agree to, kiddos….)

So I went to work on the computer.

And printed out some letters in a very fancy script.

And transferred them to the footboard.

Thank goodness for carbon paper!

And this is how it came out.

Signed, sealed (with poly), and delivered

Done.

My first attempt at a monogram.

It’s not perfect.  But I had a good time working on it.

It probably won’t last more than a year or two outdoors.

But.  They like it, so all is well.

And I can always make a new one when they’re ready for it.

I’m linking this up to Coastal Charm’s Nifty Thrifty Tuesday!

Also linking up to Funky Junk Interiors SNS#30 refurbished headboard party!  (even though it’s technically a footboard, close enough, right?)

  4. It came out great! I didn't know they still made carbon paper. Is it different from what we used years ago? Ok, not that many years...

I have an old footboard I'm taking apart to do this very same thing! :) I've already taken some pictures to help me design it in my little ole head. :)
It looks great! Lucky kiddos to get a mother's day present from the mom! lol
post delayed due to 3pm error! I thought it didn't publish, but when I checked it this morning, I saw that it was going to publish PM instead of AM. I was very tired yesterday when I wrote it.

  14. YES, close enough! Fabulous use for a headboard! I'm in a tither, dunno if I should make shelves or signs out of headboards now. Loving all these options!
