Naked Lampshades and FJI’s 2000 Follower Party!

First of all, let me just say congratulations to Donna at Funky Junk Interiors for reaching 2000 followers yesterday.

And in typical Donna fashion, she’s throwing a big bash to celebrate with all of us…Isn’t she the best?

So, if you haven’t already checked out her blog, climb out from under that rock and go join in the fun!  Yesterday she had a great purse giveaway and we had to comment on some of the stuff we have in our purses..

When I looked in mine I found 3 drill bits (so that’s where I put them!), 2 food thermometers, assorted screws, nuts, and washers, a small screwdriver, my trusty little tape measure, at least 10 pens (which I never can find when I need one), 3 open packs of gum (trident Layers, green apple, yum!) and a ton of very old receipts overflowing from my checkbook.

I really need to clean that purse out!

Now on to the Naked Lamp Shades.

A few months back while surfing the web I came across a couple images of lamp shades made from the wire form of a lamp shade with crystals hanging down.  Sure do wish I could find those pictures again!

I fell in love with the look instantly.  Then I remembered I had some very old torn lampshades I’d picked up at the curb (big surprise there, huh?) and hadn’t done anything with yet, (another big surprise).

Add to that the very ugly pole lamp I picked up because it had crystals hanging on it ………

And I had 2 of my very own Naked Lamp Shades for free!   Yayyyy!

This one is my favorite, I love the scalloped edge on the shade.  Unfortunately I have no good pictures of it!  But I just couldn’t leave it out.  That’s a butterfly hanging above the bulb.  I loved the added touch of red.

This second one is a little plainer, but I got better shots of it.065

It was just about the easiest thing I ever did, and I just love the look of these at night.   They make me happy. :)

Yes, I know, I wasn’t supposed to take the picture with the light on, but I didn’t know that back when I took it, so cut me a little bit of slack here, OK? (and I’m much too lazy to go back and take more pictures, truth be told)

Gotta go now, it’s trash day somewhere!

  2. These are so interesting looking. Are they real? Did you find them this way. I keep getting interrupted by my boys while trying to read this!

Hey, I noticed you live in Central NY. I live in Rochester....and we're looking to move to the Canandaigua area!

You're one of the first upstate NYers that I've come across!

  3. Ohhh I LOVE naked lampshades! :) The silouette of the metal frame is just so cool on yours. Love the bead placement on the 2nd one. Very cool!
