Hello, my name is Rose……..

And I’m a Curbshopaholic. So started a post I wrote for my friend Gail’s blog “My Repurposed Life”. (click her blog name to read the post)

Shortly after writing that post I had this awful AHA! type of moment one night while suffering from a bout of insomnia. I should start a blog and call it ‘Confessions of a Curbshopaholic!!!! What a great name, it says it all, right? I actually got up in the middle of the night and started setting it up. That was oh, about 7 weeks ago? Yeah, something like that.

That’s when I started reading all kinds of tips about blogging, lets see, first you have to know all about templates, then banners, and gadgets. Then the oh so critical subject of photos. Quality, Quantity, Flash? or No Flash?, Photoshop? or Picasa? And Blog Etiquette, which is a whole other issue. OMG so many things to learn about and consider. I seriously froze and read and froze some more. So afraid to make a mis-step into the wonderful awful scary cyber world of bloggers.

Finally, here it’s almost 2 months later and my poor friend Gail has been so patiently waiting for me to START THIS THING ALREADY! waiting on standby for any technical questions or help I may need from her. What a great pal she is. Someday my goal is to actually meet her. Why, she even signed up as my very first follower as soon as she saw I had set up the blog so many weeks ago. Now that my friends, is a true friend. :)

So this morning I jumped out of bed and said to myself “Self, you are gonna post something on that blog today or else! It’s not like anyone is actually going to read it anyway, so what’s the big deal?”

So here it is, my very first post. If you’re reading this, your name is probably Gail ;) (Thanks Gail!)

And because you can’t have a blog post without photos, I’m going to attempt to add some here.

Remember this poor dresser from my Confessions story at Gail’s blog? My sister wanted a dresser for her two granddaughters, so I made this over for a little girls room.043

It took a LOT of glue, nails, and all the clamps I could muster together. (I have serious clamp envy of my pal Gail! Seriously, have you SEEN all the clamps that woman has?)

Some very bright and girly wrapping paper….

Plain old school glue(great tip from Gail), a foam brush to apply it, and scissors……..

white dresser 020 Then some 99c drawer pulls, painted white. I’m not totally happy with the look of these, but my sis wanted something easy for the little ones to open.finished dresser 004 finished dresser 003

And there you have it, one rescued dresser given a new lease on life and on it’s way to a new home with 2 very sweet little girls! I am so glad I found the space to fit this into the van that morning!

Sorry the pictures weren’t better, I still have a lot to learn about that subject!

Gotta go now, it’s trash day somewhere!

Rose
